Original Argentinian tango production at the Kempinski Print E-mail Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

tango

An original production, Tango Emoción, inspired by the Argentinian flavours of the dance genre, will be performed at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz on October 26 as part of Festival Mediterranea organised by the Astra Theatre.

The production, written by Romanian mezzo-soprano Oana Andra and premiered at the National Opera House in Bucharest in 2010, is currently on European tour.

Tango Emoción, based on 17 well-known tangos, from Carlos Gardel to Astor Piazzolla, represents an escape from an ugly reality full of aggressive impersonal rhythms to a world of intense living.

The performance is mainly based on the artistes – on their human, vocal and bodily expression – who sing, recite and dance Argentinian tango in a spectacular and temperamentally-charged performance.

Since its premiere, Tango Emoción has been performed to sold-out theatres in many countries.

The performance in Gozo will be held on October 26, in between the two representations of the festival’s main event, Madama Butterfly, at the Astra Theatre. Patrons will be able to obtain discounted tickets for the tango performance if bought together with an opera ticket.

Festival Mediterranea is a month-long event. For information and booking, call 2155 0985 or 7925 6897.
